MY FAVORITE FILM OPENINGS

You know what they say,

"You only have one chance to make one first impression that lasts a lifetime"

I think the directors of the following movies took this quote to the heart, and created such a masterpiece that it still has an artistic impression on me.

1. American Psycho

We are introduced to the lifestyle and mental condition of Patrick Bateman, the protagonist of the movie. What I love the most about this scene is that he first tells us where he lives, and his economic status, before telling us about his name.

It's a sneak peek into the way he thinks. His residence, and the status symbol it serves is more important than his identity as a human being.

2. The Grand Budapest Hotel

The opening sets you up for the masterpiece that is to follow. It puts you in the state of mind in which you can absorb the intricacies and doll-like world of Wes Anderson.

Movies that feature flashbacks as their opening scenes are also my type, and this is exactly that.

Well, by taking these film openings as inspirations, we can create an outstanding example of filmmaking. So follow us on our journey. See you on our next blog post
