Production: Editing

 Editing

As we have already established in many lessons before, editing is the core of any production. And that is exactly why I spent 40+ hours editing my video. Because I knew that if the editing failed, no matter how much energy has been spent pre-production, it bears no fruit. So I'll walk you through some of my editing decisions.

Note: Most of my editing was done on PowerDirector, whilst color grading and subtitles are added on Adobe Premiere Pro

Key Takeaway Number 1: I desaturated all the flashback scenes to create a film noir effect. So that the audience understands that it was the past

Key Takeaway Number 2: I used as many ambient diegetic sounds as much as I could to create a sense of verisimilitude.

Key Takeaway Number 3: To create an easy transition between energetic music and the dark music, I used ambient transitions such as natural thunder sound, evil shriek, and zen gong.

Overall, to give you an idea, I was working in over 7 layers of  diegetic and non-diegetic sounds to create a cinematic production. They all contributed one drop to the overall ocean of creativity.

How working in 7+ layers of audio looks like:

Anyways. Hope you don't get scared by this, see you in the next blog post!
